The Next Big Thing!

The wonderful Kharisma Rhayne invited me to participate in The Next Big Thing Blog Tag and I couldn’t resist this ongoing game in which authors talk about their favorite thing: their work, more particularly, their Work in Progress.

The trials and tribulations of being an author, published or not, are challenging on any day, but the sense of community encouraged by games such as these makes it all worthwhile.

What is the working title of the book?
I have several novels in process, but the one I’m going to talk about today is part of the Measurement of Magick Series, Aeromancer©2011.

Where did the idea come from for the book?
The science fiction, mysteries, and science writing of Isaac Asimov have always fascinated me. I often spend hours immersed in his stories. One of my all time favorites is “The Last Question” wherein the titular question is “How do we stop the universe from ending? Or, How can we conquer death?” At the same time, I have always been fascinated by mysticism, magick, the elements of religion, and what brings people together in romantic relationships. In this story, set in the far off future, a Wraith is tasked with the recovery of top-secret cargo from a stranded space freighter. The cargo turns out to be an entity; an entity that the Wraith refuses to return to his military superiors.

What is the genre of the book?
Adult, futuristic, science fiction, M/M romance.

Which actors would I choose to play the characters in a movie rendition?
Ooh, this is a tough question. For the role of Major Candelario Aliento, it would be Kuno Becker who played the role of Santiago Muñez in Goal! The Dream Begins. For the role of Raziel, it would be Supermodel Andrej Pejic, and for the role of Khamael, it would be Supermodel Stav Strashko.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of the book?
Can life and death, incarnate, unite and rebuild humanity in order to save the universe?

Will the book be self-published or represented by an agency/publisher?
It will be published by a publisher.

How long did it take me to write the first draft of the manuscript?
Five weeks.

What other books would I compare this story to within the genre?
Loosely, I think it's What Is This Thing Called Love by Isaac Asimov meets Angelology by Danielle Trussoni.

Who or what inspired you to write this book?
I wanted to write a story that would inspire confidence in those who might not believe they are worthy of love.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
Are angels allowed to fall in love?

Look for The Next Big Thing blog posts from these incredibly awesome authors on or before November 28th:
