 A Matter of Perspective

Thanks for hosting me today as part of my blog tour for Comes a Horseman, the 3rd and final book in my WWII Echoes Rising series from DSP Publications.
I have a Rafflecopter running as part of the tour so be sure to enter.
I prefer to read and write flawed characters, rather than protagonists who are always right, and antagonists who are two-dimensional virtual moustache whirlers.  I think they’re more interesting, and I like a bit of emotional angst in my stories.
Good people make mistakes, and especially during war, find themselves in a position where they need to follow a course of action they wouldn’t usually.  In Echoes Rising the team have so far been focused on getting Kristopher and the information he carries to the Allies.  But now, they’re having doubts about whether this is the best course of action, and whether their mission should succeed.  Add in the complication of having feelings for someone else in their team. What sacrifices will they need to make in order to ensure that person’s survival? A person who in usual circumstances wouldn’t kill anyone reacts differently when someone they love is threatened.
Or do they?

#Excerpt! Welcome to the Blog Tour for Anne Barwell's Winter Duet, Book #2 in the Echoes Rising Series!

Join me in welcoming Anne Barwell to my blog today with her newest novel, Winter Duet, the sequel to Shadowboxing, Book Two in the Echoes Rising Series! She also gives us a terrific commentary on the music in Winter Duet!

Winter Duet, is out on December 27th, and is now available at
DSP PublicationsAmazon, and Barnes & Noble!

Off The Stave

Thanks for hosting me today, Aisling.

Music plays a big part in Winter Duet, book 2 of my WII Echoes Rising series. Two of the characters—Kristopher and Michel—are musicians. Kristopher plays violin, and Michel the flute, and they’ve promised each other a duet if they survive the war. Although the title reflects that promise, it also refers to a duet of another sort as the team is split into two for a good portion of the story. Reese Dante has done a fabulous cover for the book which is also music themed—music notes are part of the background sky behind the Mosquito aircraft, and there is an outline of a violin visible in the forest below.

#ExclusiveInterview of David C. Dawson, author of "The Necessary Deaths" Book #1 in the Dominic Delingpole Mysteries Series!

It is my great pleasure to welcome the incredibly interesting David C. Dawson to my blog today with his debut novel, The Necessary Deaths. Check out the fascinating interview below and then go read his exceptional book!

The Necessary Deaths is now available at

Before we begin, read a little about David:

He is an author, but he's also an award-winning journalist and documentary maker, living near Oxford in the UK. He has travelled extensively, filming in nearly every continent of the world. He has lived in London, Geneva and San Francisco, but now prefers the tranquillity of the Oxfordshire countryside.

David is a Mathematics graduate from Southampton University in England. After graduating, he joined the BBC in London as a trainee journalist. He worked in radio newsrooms for several years before moving to television as a documentary director. During the growing AIDS crisis in the late eighties, he is proud to say that he directed the first demonstration of putting on a condom on British television.

After more than twenty years with the BBC, he left to go freelance. He has produced videos for several charities, including Ethiopiaid; which works to end poverty in Ethiopia, and Hestia; a London-based mental health charity. David has one son, who is also a successful filmmaker.

About Traveling Light
An eye for an eye….

Ian McCandless is a hospice nurse, training to become a shaman. When his mentor orders him to make peace with his estranged family, Ian reluctantly agrees, anticipating another conflict-filled visit. On their way from the airport, Ian’s older brother Will interrupts a convenience store robbery and is shot. As he dies in Ian’s arms, Will begs Ian to avenge him.

Ian uses his shamanic abilities to track down the killer, but his quest soon becomes a hunt for revenge—forbidden to any shaman. His actions jeopardize his relationship with the spirit-world, endanger the lives of those he loves, and threaten to banish him from the path that gives his life meaning. Ian must choose between vengeance and service to community as the root of his shamanic covenant. Evil or noble, every choice is sacred to the Great Web, and every choice has consequences.

Exclusive Excerpt

Ian has just broken up with his long-term lover Sam, for whom Ian’s shamanic work has always been a problem. Instead of spending the rest of the night with Sam, Ian has returned to his own apartment.

IT'S OUT! Amy Lane's Vulnerable (Little Goddess Book 1)!!!

Join me in welcoming Amy Lane's Vulnerable, Book One in the Little Goddess Series from DSP Publications!

I have to tell a short story here, which I'm fairly certain neither Lisa or Amy will remember. Back in September, 2013 when I was preparing for the release of Omorphi, I was in a conversation with Lisa Horan at The Novel Approach Reviews about setting up a date for the book tour. During this conversation, Lisa and I discussed our favorite authors and, of course, Amy's name came up. At the time, Lisa said she would LOVE to have Amy on her blog. I offered to ask Amy to contact Lisa about it. This was rather stupid of me because the only exchange I had had with Amy to that point was a brief Facebook PM over pseudonyms! Having absolutely no incentive whatsoever to do so, Amy took my request, contacted Lisa, and visited The Novel Approach! Holy sh*t! Amy Lane took my request!!! Lisa was thrilled!

Enter the here and now. I have a new Young Adult novel releasing in April and I asked Amy if she would be part of the book tour and she agreed! *faint* Can you believe it? Holy mackerel! Amy Lane on my book tour! It's Amy Lane!!!

It's no secret that I grew up in Hollywood and know some pretty famous people and some damn good artists, be they authors, actors, directors or producers; and I'm not one to fanboy over fame. But I am a total fan of something else: kindness. Amy Lane ranks at the top of my list of idols because she isn't only an expert at her craft, she's one of the kindest people I have come to know. And it shows in her writing. Her stories are incredibly imaginative, full of heart, and rich with the texture of storytelling. Don't miss out on the re-release of Vulnerable. The Little Goddess series is a must read series. Here's to kindness and Amy Lane's books!

And, OMG! Amy Lane is in my upcoming book tour! OMG!

About Vulnerable:

Working graveyards in a gas station seems a small price for Cory to pay to get her degree and get the hell out of her tiny town. She's terrified of disappearing into the aimless masses of the lost and the young who haunt her neck of the woods. Until the night she actually stops looking at her books and looks up. What awaits her is a world she has only read about—one filled with fantastical creatures that she's sure she could never be.

And then Adrian walks in, bearing a wealth of pain, an agonizing secret, and a hundred and fifty years with a lover he's afraid she won't understand. In one breathless kiss, her entire understanding of her own worth and destiny is turned completely upside down. When her newfound world explodes into violence and Adrian's lover—and prince—walks into the picture, she's forced to explore feelings and abilities she's never dreamed of. The first thing she discovers is that love doesn't fit into nice neat little boxes. The second thing is that risking your life is nothing compared to facing who you really are—and who you'll kill to protect.
